With each day that goes by, new challenges and opportunities arise for the meetings and events industry. These are unprecedented times for everyone, and we realize that no one has all of the answers.
We’ve experienced cancellations, shock, short term pivots, and dramatic changes in just a few months. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Now, it’s clear that the future is going to look different. We’re looking forward and accepting the reality as we begin to understand what all of this truly means.
This is our opportunity
The way I see it, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to shape the future of meetings and events. We’ve been through a lot already, and we continue to follow what is happening, but now is our chance to regroup, learn, and adapt a new normal for meetings and events.
At this stage, we’re moving into the future without a playbook. Because we know the future is going to be different, we won’t be able to solely rely on our experiences from the past. The industry is going to operate differently and we’re going to need different styles of leadership and a broad spectrum of ideas to guide us.
As we continue forward, a wide range of voices need to be heard. We can depend on our leadership skills, collaboration, and creativity to rebound and rebuild for the future. Diversity of thought, one of Soundings Connect’s core values, has never been as important as it is now.
We want to encourage others to be unafraid to speak up. We need the professionals in our industry to step up and share their ideas. This is the time when innovative ideas emerge.
Revive + Innovate
We are excited to announce the launch of Soundings Connect’s new virtual event series, Revive + Innovate. We believe the only way forward is together. Let’s leverage our collective wealth of leadership and event knowledge to solve current challenges and create opportunities for the future.
Our goal is to hear from a broad spectrum of industry professionals who have the skills, expertise and drive to ideate and envision what the future of meetings and events will look like. We invite you to join in the conversation!
Here’s how each Revive + Innovate virtual event will unfold:
Soundings Connect will publish an introductory blog the week leading up to each event that will include information and thought-provoking questions about the event’s central topics and themes.
At the beginning of each event, subject matter experts will present for 15-20 minutes.
Attendees will then breakout into small groups to dive deeper into the topics. This is where diversity of thought and collaboration will come into play.
Finally, the entire group will reunite to share breakthroughs, resources and next steps. This is how we will ignite innovation in our industry.
This is just the beginning! The Revive + Innovate series is meant to create space for ongoing collaborative, interactive discussions that will help us tackle challenges together. Through Soundings Connect’s Reskill + Revive webinar series, we learned that many meeting and event professionals are looking for ways to give back and brainstorm ideas for what we’re going to need in the future. This is just one of the ways to get started.
