Press Release: Introducing Soundings Thrive™

Soundings Connect to launch Soundings Thrive™, the first of its kind membership-based platform for freelance professionals in the meeting and event industry

San Diego, CA (June 30, 2020)- Soundings Thrive™, a new product offering by Soundings Connect, is a membership-based platform designed to help freelancers accelerate their businesses. Soundings Thrive™ provides freelancers and small business owners access to curated education, business resources, community, and revenue opportunities.

Freelancers seeking community and business resources are the catalyst behind the launch of Soundings Thrive™.  The concept has been on the Soundings Connect roadmap for years, but the launch was accelerated by widespread changes in the workforce due to the global pandemic.

Since mid-March, the number of freelancers in the Soundings Connect network has increased by 24%. To date, freelancers from 37 states represent a diverse cross section of talent actively seeking opportunities to advance their professional skills and remain relevant.

In mid-March, Soundings Connect launched Reskill + Revive, an interactive webinar series designed to bring freelancers together to learn new skills from a range of business experts. As a result of these opportunities to upskill, hundreds of freelancers gained access to an array of professional development sessions, including access to CVENT certifications.

“Like most businesses in the hospitality and events industries, COVID quickly impacted the amount of work available for freelancers in our network. While there wasn’t much work to offer, we did have time. My immediate response was to create community and provide education for our freelancers to stay connected and grow during that unpredictable point in time,” said Tracy Judge, Founder & Chief Connector of Soundings Connect.

As the pandemic continued, it became clear that in order for the hospitality and event industries to move forward new specializations, flexible teams, and innovative business models would be required.

By May, Soundings Connect launched a subsequent event series, Revive + Innovate, to bring industry veterans and freelance professionals together to expand knowledge, elevate skills, and focus on innovation in the meetings and events industry.

In the midst of COVID-19 shutdowns freelancers, industry leaders, and subject matter experts have come together to address imminent changes in the industry and discover new opportunities for growth. Freelancers and small business owners can now leverage Soundings Thrive™, a specially designed platform where they can access industry news, education, and business development resources all in one place.

“I became fascinated with the freelance economy while achieving my master’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at SDSU. As I continued my career, I realized that there was a real opportunity to drive innovation in the meetings and events industry through freelance talent. I resigned from my job to pursue this endeavor, and because of that experience, I can relate first-hand to the needs and challenges of the freelance and small business community,” Tracy Judge said.

As the economy reopens, Soundings Thrive™ will serve freelancers, the small business community, and the meetings and events industry at large. Soundings Thrive™ will help support highly skilled freelance professionals as they advance their education, reskill, and specialize to support the changing needs of the industry.

During the initial phase of the Soundings Thrive™ launch, pre-approved freelancers in the Soundings Connect network will receive complimentary access to the Soundings Thrive™ Essential membership platform. Once approved, freelancers in the Soundings Connect network can upgrade to Soundings Thrive™ Premium, an enhanced paid membership-based platform launching in August.
